Yacht description

TOKIO II was built in New Zealand by Marten Marine for the 1993/94 Whitbread Race and Whitbread 60 later became the Volvo Open 60 class. The yacht did not take part in this race. TOKIO II was one of two yachts built for the race and at the time was considered to be the most radical yacht of this class over design.

Since then she has led an active life. In her current ownership, she has been based in Helsinki and subject to ongoing refits and a preventative maintenance programme. She has recently competed in the Volvo Legends Race and continues to run as a successful charter business.

She is a great platform to continue with this, or perhaps to enter the Ocean Globe Race in the Classic division and give her a second chance to go around the world!

maintenance and refits:

  • Dry dock: rig controlled, re-tensioning of the rig.
  • Dry dock: complete renewal of the antifouling, sanding, filling, spraying top quality racer-antifouling (Venezia, speedy carbonium).
  • Rudder bearings checked and serviced (2018).
  • Winches serviced (annually).
  • New rod kicker (Tokio2 hydraulic system currently not in use)
  • Engines controlled and serviced (as every year)
  • Sails repaired and checked by sailmaker (as every year, last service 2019).

To be visited in the Netherlands.
