Hull is made of airexfoam with kevlar on the outside and carbon on the inside. Hull painted white 2018.
Double rudder entirely from carbon
Keel is inside keel bulkhead for 60 cm. Is fully laminated to both the bulkhead / viewing box and the hull. Keel plate (place where the keel goes through the boat) consists of 3 cm kevlar. In other words is completely watertight.
The construction is a form of composite foam sandwich construction which has been tried and tested over many years by both amateur and professional builders.
Scantlings are based on the ABS recommendations with additional input from technical discussion documents from the Open 50 and 60 racing classes. This is in addition to personal experience and best practice for vessels of this type.
There is wide use of Carbon fibre for the main structure, fin keel, mast and rudders. Glass and Kevlar fibres have been used as appropriate as to improve toughness and as local reinforcement. Core materials are structural cross-linked PVC foam or marine plywood in heavily loaded areas. There are also heavily reinforced monolithic laminates in appropriate areas, such as around the fin keel connection
The yacht is intended to be suitable, subject to normal considerations of sound seamanship, for independent operation in all weathers and conditions in all oceans of the World.
The Yacht is considered suitable for operation in “Design Category ‘A’” as specified by the Belgian Authorities.
Suitably equipped the yacht should be capable of obtaining an RORC Design Category ‘A’ rating (i.e. suitable for ocean racing) or equivalent.

Hydrostatics, Ballasting and Stability
The calculated stability of the yacht exceeds the Category ‘A’ requirements of the RORC Certificate.
The yacht has been designed to be entirely self righting if maintained with all hatches in the sealed and intact condition. This includes the ballasted condition, with 1000kg water-ballast in one tank (see stability curves included below).
The design incorporates up to 6 separate watertight compartments and an additional “crash zone” in the bows which should ensure the vessel remains afloat should the main cabin or any one of the compartments become flooded.
